Harriers XC Running

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

Program registration deadline is September 24th. We will not be able to accept late registrations. Please read our Return to Play & Programs document before registering for any programs.

All Fall programs will run through the month of October.

HRec will only be holding low risk* outdoor programs for the Fall 2020 season. All programs and events will have a Recreation staff member or appointed representative (AR) present.
*Low risk programming is identified as skill building at home, with family or team-based practice. Non-residents will not be allowed to register for HRec programs as this would be highest risk category. (Maine DECD & Aspen Project Play – Return to Play Risk Assessment, 2020)

CHANGES FOR THE FALL 2020 SEASON:
---> Our parent organization, Coastal Running League (CRL), will not be hosting a program this year due to COVID-19 risk factors and Maine DECD community sports guidelines. This means we will not have weekly competition meets against other towns.

--->We will be accepting 6th graders this season only. CRL only takes grades K - 5, but since we aren't competing we can make this change for the season.

---> As of right now we do not have access to Harpswell Community School as a venue. This is a district level change. Our location for this season will be Mitchell Field. This way we have lots of open space and restroom access.

---> Registration fee has been lowered to help families that may need it during this financially difficult time.

Cross Country running is an exciting sport with lifelong fun and fitness benefits.

Practice: Practice days will be determined by number of registrations, but will most likely occur on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. Practices will take place at Mitchell Field. Practice time is TBD - we are still waiting to hear about dismissal times for elementary school kids.

Coach: Our fabulous returning coaches - Frank Wright and Karen Ela. We can always use helpers - if you are interested, please contact Harpswell Recreation at 833-5771 or recreation@town.harpswell.me.us.A volunteer application, background check and COVID-19 training will need to be completed before you can volunteer with Harpswell Recreation.

Refund Policy for COVID-19
Due to the always changing guidelines provided by the Maine DECD for Community Sports – there is a chance our programs will get cancelled or postponed. This is something that is beyond our control.

Our refund policy for 2020 while under COVID-19 guidelines:
- If you register for a program, but cancel before the program starts a full refund will be available.
- If Harpswell Recreation cancels a program due to lack of staff or volunteers a full refund will be available.
- If Harpswell Recreation cancels a program due to COVID-19 related issues there will be no refund available. Any program equipment we have ordered for individuals will be sent to them via mail or may be picked up at the Town Office on a determined date.

* Adjustments and discounts will be applied during checkout if applicable. *
