Ararat Youth Baseball (9-12yo)
We are delighted to announce that Ararat Youth Baseball has a new website and we have opened registration for the 2021 season. Similar to last season but a new tradition going forward, registration for our "Minors" and "Majors" Cal Ripken divisions will occur directly through our league as opposed to through your town's recreation department as it had been prior to 2020. The town rec departments of Topsham, Harpswell, Bowdoin and Bowdoinham will continue to offer tee ball/baseball programs for children under the age of 9*. Players aged 9-12 (as of April 30, 2021) are permitted to sign up for Cal Ripken Baseball through the new website: www.ararat.website.sportssignup.com
*8 year-olds with prior baseball experience can be considered for Cal Ripken Minors at the discretion of their respective town recreation director and Ararat Board of Directors.
Registration for Minors/Majors is open now until Sunday March 14th. The fee for the 2021 Ararat Youth Baseball Season is $55 and can be paid online through our website or by mailing a check as directed. There will be a preseason clinic held on Saturdays March 13, 20 and 27 at the Coastal Performance Center in Brunswick. The fee to attend the preseason clinic is $30 (to cover renting the facility) and it can be included in your online registration. Please note that space in the preseason clinic is limited!
Anyone interested in volunteering as a coach this season must register through our website as well. In accordance with their partnership with Babe Ruth League, Inc., our new website performs the mandatory background check and offers abuse prevention training (good for 2 years) for a fee of $25.50**.
**Volunteer coaches who are willing to umpire one of our league games this season will be reimbursed the coach's background check fee!
Like during our 2020 season, strict COVID guidelines must be followed again this year to allow us to play baseball. As we all know, this is a very fluid situation with constantly-changing policies which we will keep everyone updated on as we approach the season. For example, in accordance with current Maine Community Sports Guidelines, masks will be mandatory for all players, coaches and volunteers during our indoor preseason clinics in March, as well as no spectators will be allowed due to capacity restrictions. We will communicate this policies as well as any changes to them through email. Thank you in advance for your understanding as we navigate through these unprecedented times together.
Feel free to share this email and our new website to any families that may not be on our old mailing list and might be interested in joining our league. Don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions, simply reply to this email or contact our Board through our website.
