5th & 6th Grade Ararat Youth Travel Basketball Tryouts
For players from Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell & Topsham
The Ararat Youth Basketball League is holding tryouts for the 2026–2027 Maine Basketball League Travel Teams for 5th and 6th grade girls and boys.
The travel league is at the upper end of the competitive spectrum and involves weekend travel and weeknight practices in addition to participation in local recreational basketball.
Tryout Schedule
Location: Mt. Ararat High School Gymnasium
Tuesday, October 20
Thursday, October 22
- 5:00–6:00 PM — Boys
- 6:15–7:15 PM — Girls
Tuesday, October 27
Players must attend at least ONE of the two tryout opportunities. If your child is unable to attend either tryout, please contact your town representative as soon as possible.
What to Know
- Sign in at the door and arrive on time.
- There is no tryout fee.
- A signed parent/guardian liability waiver is required.
- Only players and league representatives will be permitted in the gym during tryouts.
- Players should wear sneakers and may bring water.
- Parents/guardians should remain outside the gym during tryouts.
Travel Team Requirements
Players selected for a travel team will pay a $250 travel league fee. If financial assistance is needed, please contact your local Recreation Director.
Travel players are strongly encouraged to participate in their local recreational basketball program as well.
Recreational basketball registration is handled separately through each town. Registration information for the recreational teams, which play among Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell, and Topsham, will be distributed by the respective Recreation Departments. The AYBL recreational team registration deadline is November 1.
The Mt. Ararat High School Coaching Staff will assist the Ararat Youth Basketball Board with coaching decisions for the 2026–2027 season.
